Desolation » Who shall be desolate
Evil will kill wicked people, and those who hate righteous people will be condemned.
The word of Jehovah continued to come to me: Son of man, set your face (commit yourself) against Mount Seir, and prophesy against it. Say this, 'the Lord Jehovah says: I am against you, Mount Seir! I will stretch out my hand (exert my power) against you and make you a desolation and a waste. read more.
I will lay waste your cities and you will become desolated. Then you will know that I am Jehovah. Because you have had everlasting enmity and have delivered the sons of Israel to the power of the sword (to die by warfare) at the time of their calamity, at the time of the punishment of the end.' Therefore as I live, declares the Lord Jehovah: I will give you over to bloodshed (death), and bloodshed (death) will pursue you. Since you have not hated bloodshed, therefore bloodshed will pursue you. I will make Mount Seir a waste and desolation. I will cut off from it the one who passes through and returns. I will fill its mountains with those who have been killed. Those killed by the sword will fall on your hills and in your valleys and ravines. I will make you an everlasting desolation! Your cities will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am Jehovah!' For the reason that you have said: 'These two nations and these two lands will be mine, and we will possess them,' although Jehovah was there. Therefore as I live,' declares the Lord Jehovah, 'I will deal with you according to your anger and according to your envy, what you showed because of your hatred against them. I will make myself known among them when I judge you. Then you will know that I, Jehovah, have heard all your insults you have spoken against the mountains of Israel. You said: 'They are laid desolate. They are given to us for food.' You have spoken arrogantly against me and have continuously spoken against me. And I have heard it!' The Lord Jehovah says: 'As all the earth rejoices, I will make you desolated. As you rejoiced over the inheritance of the house of Israel because it was desolate, so I will do to you. You will be desolated, O Mount Seir, and all Edom, all of it. Then they will know that I am Jehovah.'

You are a holy people to Jehovah your God. Jehovah your God has chosen you to be his own special people out of all the nations of the earth. Jehovah set his heart on you. He chose you, even though you did not outnumber all the other people. You were the smallest of all nations. You were chosen because Jehovah loved you and kept the oath he swore to your fathers. So he used his mighty hand to bring you out. He freed you from slavery under Pharaoh king of Egypt. read more.
Keep in mind that Jehovah your God is the only true God. He is the faithful God. He keeps his promise and is merciful to thousands of generations of those who love him and obey his commandments. He destroys everyone who hates him. He never takes long to pay back anyone who hates him. So obey the commandments, laws, and judgments I give you today. If you listen to these rules and faithfully obey them, Jehovah your God will keep his covenant with you and be merciful to you, as he swore to your fathers. He will love you, bless you, and increase the number of your descendants. He will bless you with children. He will bless your land with produce: grain, new wine, and olive oil. He will bless your herds with calves, and your flocks with lambs and kids. This will all happen in the land Jehovah will give you, as he swore to your fathers. God will bless you more than any other people. There will not be a male or a female barren among you or your livestock. Jehovah will take away every sickness from you. He will not afflict you with any of the evil diseases of Egypt, which you have known. He will put them on all who hate you.

All these blessings and curses I have spoken about will happen to you. Take them to heart when you are among all the nations where Jehovah your God will scatter you. If you and your children return to Jehovah your God and obey him with all your heart and with all your being, doing everything I command you today, he will restore your fortunes. He will have mercy on you and gather you from all the nations of the world where he has scattered you. read more.
Jehovah your God will gather you from the ends of the earth. He will bring you back. Jehovah your God will bring you into the land your fathers possessed. You will possess it. He will prosper you and multiply you more than your fathers. Jehovah your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, to LOVE JEHOVAH YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND WITH ALL YOUR BEING, that you may live. Jehovah your God will inflict all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you and who persecute you.
Jehovah your God will gather you from the ends of the earth. He will bring you back. Jehovah your God will bring you into the land your fathers possessed. You will possess it. He will prosper you and multiply you more than your fathers. Jehovah your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, to LOVE JEHOVAH YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND WITH ALL YOUR BEING, that you may live. Jehovah your God will inflict all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you and who persecute you.
