15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites. For you travel around by sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much of a son of hell as yourselves.

"For thus says the Lord GOD: 'I will also deal with you as you have done, who have despised the oath in breaking the covenant.

A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth. The work of a man's hands shall be rewarded to him.

The king shall mourn, and the prince shall be clothed with desolation, and the hands of the people of the land shall be troubled: I will do to them after their way, and according to their own judgments will I judge them; and they shall know that I am the LORD."

If you say, "Behold, we did not know this;" doesn't he who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, doesn't he know it? Shall he not render to every man according to his work?

Also to you, Lord, belongs loving kindness, for you reward every man according to his work.

who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers: these will receive greater condemnation."

For the work of a man he will render to him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.

According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, wrath to his adversaries, recompense to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompense.

Now is the end on you, and I will send my anger on you, and will judge you according to your ways; and I will bring on you all your abominations.

According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions did I to them; and I hid my face from them.'

But my words and my decrees, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did not they overtake your fathers? "Then they repented and said, 'Just as the LORD of hosts determined to do to us, according to our ways, and according to our practices, so he has dealt with us.'"

That servant, who knew his lord's will, and did not prepare, nor do what he wanted, will be beaten with many stripes, but he who did not know, and did things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few stripes. To whomever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked.
