The land has become defiled, so I am punishing it for its sin, and the land will vomit out its inhabitants.

Now the men of Sodom were evil, sinning greatly against the Lord.

For the men who were in the land prior to you have committed all these abominations, and the land has become defiled. If you defile the land, it will vomit you out as it has vomited out the nations that were before you.

You must not follow the statutes of the nations I am driving out before you, for they did all these things, and I abhorred them.

Separate from me: if [you go] to the left, I will go to the right; if [you go] to the right, I will go to the left." Their grapes are poisonous;
their clusters are bitter.

The look on their faces testifies against them,
and like Sodom, they flaunt their sin.
They do not conceal it.
Woe to them,
for they have brought evil on themselves.

In the same way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them committed sexual immorality and practiced perversions, just as angels did, and serve as an example by undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.

Among the prophets of Jerusalem also
I saw a horrible thing:
They commit adultery and walk in lies.
They strengthen the hands of evildoers,
and none turns his back on evil.
They are all like Sodom to Me;
Jerusalem’s residents are like Gomorrah.

Your older sister was Samaria, who lived with her daughters to the north of you, and your younger sister was Sodom, who lived with her daughters to the south of you.

ו VavThe punishment of my dear people
is greater than that of Sodom,

They put pressure on Lot and came up to break down the door. But the angels reached out, brought Lot into the house with them, and shut the door. They struck the men who were at the door of the house, both young and old, with a blinding light so that they were unable to find the door. Then the angels said to Lot, "Do you have anyone else here: a son-in-law, your sons and daughters, or anyone else in the city who belongs to you? Get them out of this place, for we are about to destroy this place because the outcry against its people is great before the Lord, and the Lord has sent us to destroy it."

"As I live"-the declaration of the Lord God -"your sister Sodom and her daughters have not behaved as you and your daughters have. Now this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, plenty of food, and comfortable security, but didn't support the poor and needy.


But on the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all.

Now the men of Sodom were evil, sinning greatly against the Lord.

and like Sodom, they flaunt their sin.

Woe to them,
for they have brought evil on themselves.

Then the Lord said, “The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is immense, and their sin is extremely serious.
