I will not do it in your lifetime, because of your father David, but I will take it from your son.
But Jehovah was kind to them and had pity on them, caring for them, because of his agreement with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He would not put them to destruction or send them away from his presence until now.
Sentence against an evil deed is not executed quickly. Therefore the hearts of the sons of men are fully committed to do evil.
So he told his gardener, I have been coming here looking for figs on this tree for three years. I have not found any. So cut it down! Why should it continue using the soil? But the gardener said: Just give it one more year, sir. I will dig around it, fertilize it and leave it alone.
If the tree bears figs next year it will be good. If it does not you can have it cut down.
