Thematic Bible: Indissoluble during the joint lives of the parties
Thematic Bible
Marriage » Indissoluble during the joint lives of the parties
For the married woman is bound by law to [her] husband while he lives, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law of the husband. Therefore as a result, if she belongs to another man [while] her husband is living, she will be called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is not an adulteress [if she] belongs to another man.
So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, man must not separate."
A wife is bound for as long a time [as] her husband lives. But if her husband {dies}, she is free to marry whomever she wishes, only in the Lord.
