a people who without ceasing provoke Me to anger to My face; who sacrifice in gardens, and burn incense on the bricks;

For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which you have desired, and you shall be ashamed for the gardens which you have chosen.


By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged; and this is all the fruit to take away his sin; when he makes all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in pieces, the Asherahs and sun-pillars shall not stand up.

You shall not set up for yourself pillars of any trees near the altar of Jehovah your God which you shall make for yourself.

And I will pluck your shrines out of the midst of you; so I will destroy your cities.

For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which you have desired, and you shall be ashamed for the gardens which you have chosen.

And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, nor respect that which his fingers have made, either the Asherahs or the images.


For Jehovah shall strike Israel as the reed waves in the water, and He shall root up Israel out of this good land which He gave to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their Asherahs, provoking Jehovah to anger.

And the downfall of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together; and those who forsake Jehovah shall be consumed. For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which you have desired, and you shall be ashamed for the gardens which you have chosen.


being inflamed with idols under every green tree, killing the little sons in the valleys under the clefts of the rocks?

They sacrifice on the tops of the mountains, and burn incense on the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because its shade is good. So your daughters shall be harlots, and your brides shall commit adultery.

But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return and be consumed like the terebinth and like the oak being felled, yet has its stump; the holy seed is its stump.

and went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak. And he said to him, Are you the man of God who came from Judah? And he said, I am.

And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the Law of God, and took a great stone and set it up there under an oak by the sanctuary of Jehovah.
