Maaseiah » The name of a number of priests of the exile
And Jeshua and Bani and Sherebiah and Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites made the law clear to the people: and the people kept in their places.
Ezra the scribe took his place on a tower (podium) of wood that they had made for the purpose. The priests; Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with wind instruments; And Maaseiah and Shemaiah and Eleazar and Uzzi and Jehohanan and Malchijah and Elam and Ezer. The makers of melody made their voices loud, with Jezrahiah their overseer.

Why have you not arrested Jeremiah from Anathoth? After all, he acts like a prophet among you. That is why Jeremiah sent this message to us in Babylon: You will be captives a long time. Build houses, and live in them. Plant gardens, and eat what they produce,--'' The priest Zephaniah read this letter to the prophet Jeremiah. Then Jehovah spoke his word to Jeremiah. He will not see the blessings that I am going to send my people,' declares Jehovah, 'because he has encouraged rebellion against Jehovah.''
