Thematic Bible: Jesus, under two charges

Thematic Bible

"We heard him saying, 'I will destroy this temple made by hands, and within three days I will build another not made by hands."

The Jews replied to him, "We have a law, and according to the law he ought to die, because he made himself out to be the Son of God!"

But Jesus was silent. And the high priest said to him, "I put you under oath by the living God, that you tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God!" Jesus said to him, "You have said [it]. But I tell you, from now [on] you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power and coming on the clouds of heaven." Then the high priest tore his robes, saying, "He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? Behold, you have just now heard the blasphemy!

[and] said, "This man said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild [it] within three days.'"

But he was silent and did not reply anything. Again the high priest asked him and said to him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?" And Jesus said, "I am, and you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power and coming with the clouds of heaven." And the high priest tore his clothes [and] said, "What further need do we have of witnesses? read more.
You have heard the blasphemy! What {do you think}?" And they all condemned him {as deserving death}.

saying, "If you are the Christ, tell us!" But he said to them, "If I tell you, you will never believe, and if I ask [you], you will never answer! But from now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God." read more.
So they all said, "Are you then the Son of God?" And he said to them, "You say that I am." And they said, "Why do we have need [of] further testimony? For [we] ourselves have heard [it] from his mouth!"

They answered and said to him, "If this man were not doing evil, we would not have handed him over to you!"

From this [point on] Pilate was seeking to release him, but the Jews shouted, saying, "If you release this man, you are not a friend of Caesar! Everyone who makes himself out to be a king opposes Caesar!"

So Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, saying, "Are you the king of the Jews?" And Jesus said, "You say [so]."

Then Pilate entered again into the governor's residence and summoned Jesus and said to him, "Are you the king of the Jews?"

And they put above his head the charge against him {in writing}: "This is Jesus, the king of the Jews."

And Pilate asked him, "Are you the king of the Jews?" And he answered him [and] said, "You say [so]."

And the inscription of the charge against him was written, "The king of the Jews."

And they began to accuse him, saying, "We have found this man misleading our nation and forbidding [us] to pay taxes to Caesar, and saying [he] himself is Christ, a king!" And Pilate asked him, saying, "Are you the king of the Jews?" And he answered him [and] said, "You say [so]."

And Pilate also wrote a notice and placed [it] on the cross, and it was written: "Jesus the Nazarene, the king of the Jews." So many of the Jews read this notice, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city. And it was written in Aramaic, in Latin, [and] in Greek. Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, "Do not write 'The king of the Jews,' but, 'He said, I am king of the Jews.'" read more.
Pilate replied, "What I have written, I have written."
