The Pharisees also came to him, tempting him, and saying to him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?

Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.

And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking from him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.


Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something from his mouth, that they might accuse him.

And they watched him, and sent forth spies, who should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him to the power and authority of the governor.

This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, Tell us, when will these things be? and what will be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Then answered the Jews, and said to him, What sign showest thou to us, seeing that thou doest these things?


They said therefore to him, What sign showest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

He answered and said to them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather to-day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? read more.
A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh for a sign; and there shall no sign been to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them, and departed.

And forthwith he entered into a boat with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha. And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking from him a sign from heaven, tempting him. And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek for a sign? Verily I say to you, There shall no sign be given to this generation.

The same came to Jesus by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, so that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.


And they that passed by, railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, Save thyself, and come down from the cross. Likewise also the chief priests mocking, said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others, himself he cannot save. read more.
Let Christ the king of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him, reviled him.

But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only? And immediately, when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said to them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? read more.
Which is easier, to say to the sick with the palsy, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, he saith to the sick with the palsy, I say to thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go into thy house.

For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote concerning me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
