But while he was contemplating this step, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to bring home your wife Mary, for she is with child through the Holy Spirit.

When they were gone, and angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, "Rise: take the babe and His mother and escape to Egypt, and remain there till I bring you word. For Herod is about to make search for the child in order to destroy Him."

But after Herod's death an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, and said to him,


But to their amazement there had been a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord had descended from Heaven, and had come and rolled back the stone, and was sitting upon it.

Suddenly an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the cell; and, striking Peter on the side, he woke him and said, "Rise quickly." Instantly the chains dropped off his wrists.


But after Herod's death an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, and said to him, "Rise from sleep, and take the child and His mother, and go into the land of Israel, for those who were seeking the child's life are dead." But hearing that Archelaus had succeeded his father Herod on the throne of Judaea, he was afraid to go there; and being instructed by God in a dream he withdrew into Galilee,

Then were these words, spoken by the Prophet Jeremiah, fulfilled, "A voice was heard in Ramah, wailing and bitter lamentation: It was Rachel bewailing her children, and she refused to be comforted because there were no more." But after Herod's death an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, and said to him, "Rise from sleep, and take the child and His mother, and go into the land of Israel, for those who were seeking the child's life are dead."

And they all spoke well of Him, wondering at the sweet words of kindness which fell from His lips, while they asked one another, "Is not this Joseph's son?"

And He--Jesus--when He began His ministry, was about thirty years old. He was the son (it was supposed)

and Jacob of Joseph the husband of Mary, who was the mother of JESUS who is called CHRIST.
