For the Lord had made the army of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great army: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us. For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, to slay and destroy them utterly: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, everyone helped to destroy one another.


And I will set my face against you, and you shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and you shall flee when none pursues you.

Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them.

How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had given them up?

One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fights for you, as he has promised you.
