Yet as for Ishmael, I have heard thee; o! I have blessed trim and will make him fruitful, and multiply him, exceedingly, - twelve princes, shall he beget, and I will grant him to be a great nation;

And the messenger of Yahweh said to her, Behold thee! with child, and about bearing a son - and thou shalt call his name Ishmael for Yahweh hath hearkened unto thy humiliation. But, he, will be a wild ass of a man, his hand, against every one, and every ones hand against him - yet, in presence of all his brethren, shall he have his habitation.

And God said unto Abraham Let it not be grievous in thine eyes concerning the boy and concerning thy bondwoman, In all that Sarah may say unto thee, hearken to her voice, - For in Isaac, shall there be called to thee - a seed. Yet even the son of the bondwoman, will I appoint to become, a nation, because thy seed, he is.

Arise lift up the boy, and hold him up with thy hand, - for, a great nation, will I make him.


Now, these, are the generations of Ishmael son of Abraham, - whom hagar the Egyptian woman the handmaid of Sarah bare to Abraham; and these, are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names after their generations, - the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebaioth, and Kedar and Adbeel and Mibsam; and Mishma and Dumah, and Massa; read more.
Ha-dad, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah: these, same, are the sons of Ishmael and these, their names, by their villages and by their encampments, - twelve princes, after their tribes. And these, are the years of the life of Ishmael, a hundred and thirty-seven years, - and he breathed his last and died, and was gathered unto his people. And they stretched their habitations from Havilah as far as to Shur, which is over against Egypt, as thou goest in towards Assyria, - over against all his brethren, he settled down.

These, are their generations, - the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebaioth, then Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam; Mishma, and Dumah, Massa, Hadad, and Tema; Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah. These, are the sons of Ishmael.

So Hagar bare to Abram a son, - and Abram called the name of his son, whom Hagar bare, Ishmael. Now, Abram, was eighty - six years old, - when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram.


Esau therefore went unto Ishmael, - and took Mahalath daughter of Ishmael son of Abraham sister of Nebaioth, to himself to wife, in addition to the wives that he had.

Esau, took his wives of the daughters of Canaan, - Even Adah, daughter of Elon, the Hittite, And Oholibamah daughter of Anah, son of Zibeon, the Hivite; And Basemath daughter of Ishmael sister of Nebaioth.

And Abraham said unto God, - Oh that, Ishmael, might live before thee!


So Abraham took Ishmael his son and all born of his house and all bought with his silver - every male among the men of the house of Abraham, - and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin on this selfsame day, according to that which God had spoken with him. Now Abraham, was ninety-nine years old, - when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. On this selfsame day, was Abraham circumcised, - and Ishmael his son;


And these, are the years of the life of Ishmael, a hundred and thirty-seven years, - and he breathed his last and died, and was gathered unto his people. And Sarah said, A laughing, hath God made for me, - Everyone that heareth will laugh with me. And she said - Who would have announced to Abraham, Sarah hath suckled children? yet have I borne a son, for his old age! And the child grew, and was weaned, - and Abraham made a great banquet, on the day of the weaning of Isaac. read more.
And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian woman whom she had borne to Abraham laughing! So she said to Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son, - for the son of this bondwoman must not inherit with my son with Isaac. And the word was very grievous in the eyes of Abraham, - on account of his son. And God said unto Abraham Let it not be grievous in thine eyes concerning the boy and concerning thy bondwoman, In all that Sarah may say unto thee, hearken to her voice, - For in Isaac, shall there be called to thee - a seed. Yet even the son of the bondwoman, will I appoint to become, a nation, because thy seed, he is. So Abraham rose up early in the morning - and took bread and a skin of water and gave unto hagar, - putting them on her shoulder and the child, and sent her forth, - so she went her way and wandered, in the desert of Beer-sheba. And the water out of the skin was spent, - so she cant the child under one of the shrubs; and went and sat her down over against him at a distance like as of such as draw the bow, for she said Let me not look upon the death of the child, - So she sat down over against him, and the boy lifted up his voice, and wept And God heard the voice of the boy, and a messenger of God called unto Hagar out of the heavens; and said to her, What aileth thee, Hagar? Do not fear, for God hath hearkened unto the voice of the boy where he is. Arise lift up the boy, and hold him up with thy hand, - for, a great nation, will I make him. And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water, - and went and filled the skin with water, and gave drink unto the boy And it came to pass that God was with the boy, and he grew, - and dwelt in the desert, and he became as he grew up, an archer, And he dwelt in the desert of Paran, - and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.


And Isaac and Ishmael his sons buried him, in the cave of Machpelah, - in the field of Ephron son of Zohar the Hittite, which is over against Mamre;
