But we ought, we that are strong, to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each one of us please his neighbour with a view to what is good, to edification. For as many things as have been written before have been written for our instruction, that through endurance and through encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.

For our boasting is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and sincerity before God, (not in fleshly wisdom but in God's grace,) we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly towards you. For we do not write other things to you but what ye well know and recognise; and I hope that ye will recognise to the end,
