For God is my witness how I never stop yearning for all of you with the affection Christ Jesus inspires.

O my dear children, I am suffering a mother's birth pangs for you again, until Christ is formed in you.

Besides all other things, there is my concern for all the churches.

So, if there is any appeal in our union with Christ, if there is any persuasive power in love, if we have any common share in the Spirit, if you have any tenderheartedness and sympathy, fill up my cup of joy by living in harmony, by fostering the same disposition of love, your hearts beating in unison, your minds set on one purpose.

Instead we were little children among you; we were like a mother nursing her children. Because we were yearning for you so tenderly, we were willing, not only to share with you God's good news, but to lay down our very lives too for you, all because you were so dearly loved by us.

For this reason I kneel before the Father,

Every time we pray for you we thank God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

This is why I myself, since I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and in all His people, never cease to thank God for you when I mention you in my prayers,
