You must persevere in prayer and by this means stay wide awake when you give thanks.

And He Himself withdrew about a stone's throw from them, and after kneeling down He continued to pray,

Then he fell on his knees and cried out, "Lord, do not charge this sin on the book against them!" On saying this he fell asleep in death.

For this reason I kneel before the Father,

so that in the name of Jesus everyone should kneel, in heaven, on earth, and in the underworld,

So you must take on God's full armor, so as to be able to take a stand in the day when evil attacks you, and, after having completely finished the contest, to hold your own. Hold your position, then, with your waist encircled with the belt of truth, put on right-doing as a coat of mail,

So then, brothers, continue to stand firm and keep a tight grip on the teachings you have received from us, whether by word of mouth or by letter.

You must be patient, too; you must put iron into your hearts, because the coming of the Lord is close at hand.

But if we continue to live in the light, just as He is in the light, we have unbroken fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son continues to cleanse us from every sin.

Therefore, as we have so vast a crowd of spectators in the grandstands, let us throw off every impediment and the sin that easily entangles our feet, and run with endurance the race for which we are entered,
