I know that Yahweh will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and justice for the needy.

All the days of the afflicted are wretched, but one who has a cheerful heart enjoys a continual feast.

We can't reach the Almighty. He is exalted in power. In justice and great righteousness, he will not oppress.

"Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you. Yes, and you will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the nations.

But all these things are the beginning of birth pains. Then they will deliver you up to oppression, and will kill you. You will be hated by all of the nations for my name's sake. Then many will stumble, and will deliver up one another, and will hate one another. read more.
Many false prophets will arise, and will lead many astray. Because iniquity will be multiplied, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end, the same will be saved.

But you be sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, and fulfill your ministry.

Fools are afflicted because of their disobedience, and because of their iniquities.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all.

He will deliver you in six troubles; yes, in seven no evil shall touch you.

For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence.

For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.

My soul is also in great anguish. But you, Yahweh -- how long?

How long, Yahweh? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?

Lord, how long will you look on? Rescue my soul from their destruction, my precious life from the lions.

How long, Yahweh? Will you be angry forever? Will your jealousy burn like fire?

Yahweh God of Armies, How long will you be angry against the prayer of your people?

Notwithstanding, they would not listen, but hardened their neck, like the neck of their fathers, who didn't believe in Yahweh their God.

In the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against Yahweh, this same king Ahaz.

He didn't humble himself before Yahweh, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but this same Amon trespassed more and more.

For you, God, have tested us. You have refined us, as silver is refined.

and I will turn my hand on you, thoroughly purge away your dross, and will take away all your tin.

Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have chosen you in the furnace of affliction.

By reason of the exceeding greatness of the revelations, that I should not be exalted excessively, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me, that I should not be exalted excessively.

Yahweh, I know that your judgments are righteous, that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.

for whom Yahweh loves, he reproves; even as a father reproves the son in whom he delights.

But when we are judged, we are punished by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.

For whom the Lord loves, he chastens, and scourges every son whom he receives." It is for discipline that you endure. God deals with you as with children, for what son is there whom his father doesn't discipline?

You allowed men to ride over our heads. We went through fire and through water, but you brought us to the place of abundance.

However, because by this deed you have given great occasion to Yahweh's enemies to blaspheme, the child also who is born to you shall surely die."

If his children forsake my law, and don't walk in my ordinances; if they break my statutes, and don't keep my commandments; then I will punish their sin with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.

For the iniquity of his covetousness was I angry, and struck him; I hid [my face] and was angry; and he went on backsliding in the way of his heart.

and said, "Full of all deceit and all cunning, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? Now, behold, the hand of the Lord is on you, and you will be blind, not seeing the sun for a season!" Immediately a mist and darkness fell on him. Call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will honor me."

Yahweh will sustain him on his sickbed, and restore him from his bed of illness.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you will revive me. You will stretch forth your hand against the wrath of my enemies. Your right hand will save me.

My God, my soul is in despair within me. Therefore I remember you from the land of the Jordan, the heights of Hermon, from the hill Mizar.

I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold. I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

When I tried to understand this, it was too painful for me;

Then they will deliver you up to oppression, and will kill you. You will be hated by all of the nations for my name's sake.

But all these things will they do to you for my name's sake, because they don't know him who sent me.

persecutions, and sufferings: those things that happened to me at Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. I endured those persecutions. Out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

For though the fig tree doesn't flourish, nor fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive fails, the fields yield no food; the flocks are cut off from the fold, and there is no herd in the stalls: yet I will rejoice in Yahweh. I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!

Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven, for their fathers did the same thing to the prophets.

For his anger is but for a moment. His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

He will not always accuse; neither will he stay angry forever.

"For a small moment have I forsaken you; but with great mercies will I gather you. In overflowing wrath I hid my face from you for a moment; but with everlasting loving kindness will I have mercy on you," says Yahweh your Redeemer.

You have fed them with the bread of tears, and given them tears to drink in large measure.

But there shall be no more gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time, he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali; but in the latter time he has made it glorious, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.

Don't you be afraid, O Jacob my servant, says Yahweh; for I am with you: for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have driven you; but I will not make a full end of you, but I will correct you in measure, and will in no way leave you unpunished.

If he passes by, or confines, or convenes a court, then who can oppose him?

Should an axe brag against him who chops with it? Should a saw exalt itself above him who saws with it? As if a rod should lift those who lift it up, or as if a staff should lift up someone who is not wood.

I form the light, and create darkness. I make peace, and create calamity. I am Yahweh, who does all these things.

as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the assembly;

According to what I have seen, those who plow iniquity, and sow trouble, reap the same.

His bones are full of his youth, but youth shall lie down with him in the dust.

Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own schemes.

To the woman he said, "I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth. In pain you will bring forth children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you." Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all. He protects all of his bones. Not one of them is broken.

Samuel told him every bit, and hid nothing from him. He said, "It is Yahweh. Let him do what seems good to him."

If you treat me this way, please kill me right now, if I have found favor in your sight; and don't let me see my wretchedness."

For you both had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your possessions, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and an enduring one in the heavens.

But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die, and said, "It is enough. Now, O Yahweh, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers."

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.

"Don't let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me. In my Father's house are many homes. If it weren't so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.

You have proved my heart. You have visited me in the night. You have tried me, and found nothing. I have resolved that my mouth shall not disobey.

He said to them, "What are you talking about as you walk, and are sad?"

Joshua said, "Alas, Lord Yahweh, why have you brought this people over the Jordan at all, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to cause us to perish? I wish that we had been content and lived beyond the Jordan!

When he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, "The Lord's will be done."

He is like a man building a house, who dug and went deep, and laid a foundation on the rock. When a flood arose, the stream broke against that house, and could not shake it, because it was founded on the rock.

saying, "Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done."

"After all that has come on us for our evil deeds, and for our great guilt, since you, our God, have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such a remnant,

He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor repaid us for our iniquities.

Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of Yahweh. Samuel feared to show Eli the vision. Then Eli called Samuel, and said, "Samuel, my son!" He said, "Here I am." Samuel told him every bit, and hid nothing from him. He said, "It is Yahweh. Let him do what seems good to him."

When they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, charging the jailer to keep them safely, who, having received such a command, threw them into the inner prison, and secured their feet in the stocks. Please run now to meet her, and ask her, 'Is it well with you? Is it well with your husband? Is it well with the child?'" She answered, "It is well." When she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught hold of his feet. Gehazi came near to thrust her away; but the man of God said, "Leave her alone; for her soul is troubled within her; and Yahweh has hidden it from me, and has not told me." Then she said, "Did I desire a son of my lord? Didn't I say, Do not deceive me?" Then he said to Gehazi, "Tuck your cloak into your belt, take my staff in your hand, and go your way. If you meet any man, don't greet him; and if anyone greets you, don't answer him again. Then lay my staff on the face of the child." The mother of the child said, "As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you." He arose, and followed her. Gehazi passed on before them, and laid the staff on the face of the child; but there was neither voice, nor hearing. Therefore he returned to meet him, and told him, saying, "The child has not awakened." When Elisha had come into the house, behold, the child was dead, and laid on his bed. He went in therefore, and shut the door on them both, and prayed to Yahweh. He went up, and lay on the child, and put his mouth on his mouth, and his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands. He stretched himself on him; and the flesh of the child grew warm. Then he returned, and walked in the house once back and forth; and went up, and stretched himself on him. Then the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes. He called Gehazi, and said, "Call this Shunammite!" So he called her. When she had come in to him, he said, "Take up your son." Then she went in, and fell at his feet, and bowed herself to the ground; and she took up her son, and went out.

Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer, and put fire in it, and laid incense on it, and offered strange fire before Yahweh, which he had not commanded them. And fire came forth from before Yahweh, and devoured them, and they died before Yahweh. Then Moses said to Aaron, "This is what Yahweh spoke of, saying, 'I will show myself holy to those who come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified.'" Aaron held his peace.

But now he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me."

But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth. I afflicted my soul with fasting. My prayer returned into my own bosom.
