At which, one of Jesus's company laying his hand upon his sword, drew it, and striking at a servant of the high priest's, took off his ear. but Jesus said to him, put up your sword in its place: for all that take to the sword, shall perish by the sword.

but one of those that stood by, drew his sword against a servant of the high priest, and struck off his ear.

they who were about him seeing what would happen, said to him, shall we smite with the sword? and one of them struck a servant of the high priest, and slash'd off his right ear. but Jesus oppos'd, and said, forbear, stop there. and having touch'd his ear, he healed him.

but he pass'd thro' the midst of them and went away.

as unknown, and yet celebrated; as dying, and yet I am alive; as chastised, but not slain;

women recovered their children, tho' dead, by their being raised to life again: some expired under torments, refusing to be delivered; that they might obtain a better deliverance at the resurrection. others suffer'd cruel indignities and scourgings, besides chains and imprisonment. they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandred about in sheepskins, and goat-skins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented:read more.
(of whom the world was not worthy) they wandred in desarts, and in mountains, having no retreat but the dens and caves of the earth. Tho' these were all celebrated for their faith, they did not receive the reward that was promised:

About that time some prophets came from Jerusalem to Antioch:

Now there were several prophets and teachers in the church of Antioch, as Barnabas, Simeon surnam'd Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

which God has placed in the church, first apostles, next prophets, then teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, assistants, governours, interpreters of languages.

of the prophets let but two or three speak by turns, and let the others deliberate.
