How is it possible for you to have faith while you take honour one from another and have no desire for the honour which comes from the only God?

Or looking for glory from men, from you or from others, when we might have made ourselves a care to you as Apostles of Christ.

Take care not to do your good works before men, to be seen by them; or you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. When then you give money to the poor, do not make a noise about it, as the false-hearted men do in the Synagogues and in the streets, so that they may have glory from men. But he gives more grace. So that the Writings say, God is against the men of pride, but he gives grace to those who make themselves low before him.
