7 Bible Verses about Avoiding Violence

Do not envy a violent man, and do not choose to imitate any of his ways;

"You must not give a false report. Do not make common cause with the wicked to be a malicious witness.

"'This is what the sovereign Lord says: Enough, you princes of Israel! Put away violence and destruction, and do what is just and right. Put an end to your evictions of my people, declares the sovereign Lord.

Then some soldiers also asked him, "And as for us -- what should we do?" He told them, "Take money from no one by violence or by false accusation, and be content with your pay."

Every person and animal must put on sackcloth and must cry earnestly to God, and everyone must turn from their evil way of living and from the violence that they do.

"I hate divorce," says the Lord God of Israel, "and the one who is guilty of violence," says the Lord who rules over all. "Pay attention to your conscience, and do not be unfaithful."

As for the actions of people -- just as you have commanded, I have not followed in the footsteps of violent men.
