Jesus said to him, "Truly, I say to you that this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times."

And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, "Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times."

Peter again denied it; and at once a rooster crowed.

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!

Then he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, "I do not know the man." And immediately the rooster crowed.

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father's will. But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together.

Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he cried to all the birds that fly in midheaven, "Come, gather for the great supper of God, so that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave, both small and great."
