And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round ab

And this is the reason for the conscription which king Solomon raised to build the house of LORD, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.

He built the upper gate of the house of LORD, and on the wall of Ophel he built much.

Now after this he built an outer wall to the city of David, on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entrance at the fish gate. And he encompassed Ophel around [with it], and raised it up to a very great height. And he

Do good in thy good pleasure to Zion. Build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

And he took courage, and built up all the wall that was broken down, and raised [it] up to the towers, and the other wall outside, and strengthened Millo [in] the city of David, and made weapons and shields in abundance.

and ye numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and ye broke down the houses.

Be it known to the king, that the Jews who came up from thee have come to us to Jerusalem. They are building the rebellious and the evil city, and have finished the walls, and repaired the foundations.

Be it known to the king, that we went into the province of Judah to the house of the great God, which is built with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls. And this work goes on with diligence and prospers in their hands.

Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brothers the priests, and they built the sheep gate. After him Meremoth the son of Uriah the son of Hakkoz repaired another portion, from the door of the house of Eliashib even to the end of the house of Eliashib. And after him the priests, the men of the Plain, repaired. After them Benjamin and Hasshub repaired opposite their house. After them Azariah the son of Maaseiah the son of Ananiah repaired beside his own house. After him Binnui the son of Henadad repaired another portion, from the house of Azariah to the turning [of the wall], and to the corner. Palal the son of Uzai [repaired] opposite the turning [of the wall], and the tower that stands out from the upper house of the king, which is by the court of the guard. After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh [repaired]. (Now the Nethinim dwelt in Ophel, to the place opposite the water gate toward the east, and the tower that stands out.) After him the Tekoites repaired another portion, opposite the great tower that stands out, and to the wall of Ophel. The priests repaired above the horse gate, every man opposite his own house. After them Zadok the son of Immer repaired opposite his own house. And after him Shemaiah the son of Shecaniah, the keeper of the east gate, repaired. After him Hananiah the son of Shelemiah, and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, repaired another portion. After him Meshullam the son of Berechiah repaired opposite his chamber. After him Malchijah one of the goldsmiths to the house of the Nethinim, and of the merchants, repaired opposite the gate of Hammiphkad, and to the ascent of the corner. And between the ascent of the corner and the sheep gate the goldsmiths and the merchants repaired.

Next to him Uzziel the son of Harhaiah, goldsmiths, repaired. And next to him Hananiah one of the perfumers repaired. And they fortified Jerusalem even to the broad wall.

After him the Tekoites repaired another portion, opposite the great tower that stands out, and to the wall of Ophel.

So we built the wall, and all the wall was joined together to half [the height] of it, for the people had a mind to work.

So the wall was finished in the twenty-fifth [day] of [the month] Elul, in fifty-two days.

Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,
