21 Bible Verses about Catastrophic Events

And I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet three unclean spirits like frogs.

And there were lightnings and sounds and thunders, and there was a great earthquake, as has not happened from the [time] humanity has been on the earth--so great in this way [was] the earthquake.

And the fifth poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became darkened, and they began chewing their tongues because of the pain.

And the great city was [split] into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And Babylon the great was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of his furious wrath.

And the first went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and there was an evil and painful sore on the people who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped his image.

And the fourth poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was granted to it to burn up people with fire. And people were burned up [by the] great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has the authority over these plagues, and they did not repent to give him glory.

And the sixth poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, in order that the way would be prepared for the kings from {the east}.

And the second poured out his bowl on the sea, and it became blood, like [that] of a dead person, and every living thing [that was] in the sea died. And the third poured out his bowl on the rivers and the springs of water, and they became blood.

And when he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven [for] about half an hour. And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them. And another angel who had a golden censer came and stood at the altar, and a large amount of incense was given to him, in order that he could offer the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar that [is] before the throne.read more.
And the smoke of the incense went up before God with the prayers of the saints from the hand of the angel. And the angel took the censer and filled it with the fire from the altar and threw [it] to the earth, and there were thunders and sounds and lightnings and an earthquake. And the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves in order to blow them. And the first blew the trumpet, and there was hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was thrown to the earth, and a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up. And the second angel blew the trumpet, and [something] like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood, and a third of the creatures in the sea--the ones which had life--died, and a third of the ships were destroyed. And the third angel blew the trumpet, and a great star burning like a torch fell from heaven, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. And the name of the star was called Wormwood, and a third of the waters became wormwood, and many people died from the waters because they were made bitter. And the fourth angel blew the trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened, and the day did not shine [with respect to] a third of it, and the night likewise. And I looked, and I heard one eagle flying {directly overhead}, saying with a loud voice, "Woe, woe, woe to those who live on the earth, from the remaining sounds of the trumpets of the three angels who are about to blow the trumpet!"

And when you hear about wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. This must happen, but the end [is] not yet. For nation will rise up against nation and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in [various] places. There will be famines. These [things] [are] the beginning of birth pains. "But you, watch out for yourselves! They will hand you over to councils and you will be beaten in the synagogues and will have to stand before governors and kings because of me, for a witness to them.

form light and create darkness; make peace and create evil; I [am] Yahweh; do all these [things].

"O afflicted [one], driven away, [who] is not consoled. Look! I [am] about to set your stones in hard mortar, and I will lay your foundation with sapphires.

For nation will rise up against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in [various] places.

There will be great earthquakes and famines and plagues in [various] places. There will be terrible sights and great signs from heaven.

'You have looked for much, and look! [It came] to little; and [when] you brought [it] home, I blew it [away]. Why?' {declares} Yahweh of hosts. 'Because my house [is] desolate and you [are] running each to your own house!

Those who see you will stare at you, they will look closely at you: '[Is] this the man who made the earth tremble, who caused kingdoms to shake, who made [the] world like the desert and destroyed its cities, [who] would not let his prisoners go home?'

For thus says Yahweh of hosts: 'Once again, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and dry land.

And they will know that I [am] Yahweh when I make my land desolation and wasteland, because of all of their detestable things that they have done.

And it hails when {the forest comes down}, and the city will become low in humiliation. Happy [are] you who sow by all waters, who let the foot of the ox and the donkey go free.

Jerusalem sinned grievously, thus she became an objection of derision; all those who honored her despise her because they have seen her nakedness. She herself groans and turns away.

He made darkness his hiding place; all about him his covering [was] a darkness of waters, {thick clouds}. From the brightness before him his clouds passed over [with] hail and coals of fire. And Yahweh thundered from the heavens, and the Most High uttered his voice [with] hail and coals of fire.
