For he intended us to find great encouragement in these two unchangeable things, which make it impossible for God to prove false--we, I mean, who fled for safety where we might lay hold on the hope set before us.

Men, of course, swear by what is greater than themselves, and with them an oath is accepted as putting a matter beyond all dispute. And therefore God, in his desire to show, with unmistakable plainness, to those who were to enter on the enjoyment of what he had promised, the unchangeableness of his purpose, bound himself with an oath. This hope is a very anchor for our souls, secure and strong, and it 'reaches into the Sanctuary that lies behind the Curtain,'

"But you," he asked, "who do you say that I am?" To this Peter replied: "You are the Christ."

"But you," he went on, "who do you say that I am?" And to this Peter answered: "The Christ of God."

"Yes Master," she answered; "I have learned to believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, 'who was to come' into the world."

And Thomas exclaimed: "My Master, and my God!" "Is it because you have seen me that you have believed?" said Jesus. "Blessed are they who have not seen, and yet have believed!"

It is this disciple who states these things, and who recorded them; and we know that his statement is true.

God who brings us, with you, into close union with Christ, and who consecrated us, Also set his seal upon us, and gave us his Spirit in our hearts as a pledge of future blessings.

That is why all is made to depend upon faith, that all may be God's gift, and in order that the fulfillment of the promise may be made certain for all Abraham's descendants-not only for those who take their stand on the Law, but also for those who take their stand on the faith of Abraham. What are we to say, then, in the light of all this? If God is on our side, who can there be against us? God did not withhold his own Son, but gave him up on behalf of us all; will he not, then, with him, freely give us all things? Who will bring a charge against any of God's People? And by this we know that we have learned to know him--by our laying his commands to heart. The man who says 'I know Jesus,' but does not lay his commands to heart, is a liar, and the Truth has no place in him; but, whenever a man lays his Message to heart, in that man the love of God has indeed reached its perfection. And whatever you ask for in your prayers will, if you have faith, be granted you."

"I tell you that if any one should say to this hill 'Be lifted up and hurled into the sea!', without ever a doubt in his mind, but in the faith that what he says will be done, he would find that it would be. And therefore I say to you 'Have faith that whatever you ask for in prayer is already granted you, and you will find that it will be.'

Whatever you ask, in my Name, I will do, that the Father may be honored in the Son. If you ask anything, in my Name, I will do it.

But about 'That Day,' or 'The Hour,' no one knows--not even the angels in Heaven, nor yet the Son--but only the Father. See that you are on the watch; for you do not know when the time will be. It is like a man going on a journey, who leaves his home, puts his servants in charge--each having his special duty--and orders the porter to watch.read more.

But as to the times and the moments, there is no need, Brothers, for any one to write to you. You yourselves know well that the Day of the Lord will come just as a thief comes in the night.
