This punishment by the majority is severe enough for such a man. So forgive and comfort him, or else he will drown in his excessive grief. That's why I'm urging you to assure him of your love.

These are the things you should teach. Encourage and refute with full authority. Do not let anyone look down on you.

If anyone does not obey what we say in this letter, take note of him. Have nothing to do with him so that he will feel ashamed.

Brothers, if a person is caught doing something wrong, those of you who are spiritual should restore that person gently. Watch out for yourself so that you are not tempted as well.
