And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; you are yet in your sins.
But will you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them who were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.
If any man among you seems to be religious, and bridles not his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, you are our gods.
Saying to a tree, You are my father; and to a stone, You have brought me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us. But where are your gods that you have made yourself? let them arise, if they can save you in the time of your trouble: for according to the number of your cities are your gods, O Judah.
Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not: They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:read more.
They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat. They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusts in them.
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
