And when he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those killed for the word of God and for the testimony which they had.

And all that heard him were astonished and said, Is not this he that destroyed those who called on this name at Jerusalem, and has come here for this purpose, that he might lead them bound to the chief priests?

and when the blood of your martyr Stephen was poured out, I also stood by and consented, and kept the clothes of those that killed him.

which I also did at Jerusalem, and many of the saints I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests, and when they were killed I gave my vote against them.

And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.

And he sent another, and they killed him; and many others, and they beat some, and killed some.

And a white robe was given them, and it was told them to rest yet a little while, till their fellow servants and their brothers and those about to be killed as they also had been should finish [their testimony].

And the king immediately sending an executioner, commanded him to bring his head. And he went out and beheaded him in the prison,

And Herod said, John I beheaded; but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he sought to see him.

and casting him out of the city, stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man called Saul, and they stoned Stephen, calling and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And kneeling down he cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And having said this he fell asleep.

and I persecuted this way to death, binding and committing to prison both men and women,

And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

but he said this signifying by what death he should glorify God; and having said this, he said to him, Follow me.
