And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and on the sabbath they rested, according to the commandment.
there came to him a woman having an alabaster bottle of very costly ointment, and poured it on his head while he was reclining at table.
And when he was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as he was reclining at table, there came a woman having an alabaster bottle of ointment of pure spikenard, very precious; and breaking the bottle, she poured it on his head.
And lo! a woman who was in the city, a sinner, learning that he was at table in the Pharisees house, brought an alabasterbottle of ointment,
My head with oil thou didst not anoint; but she anointed my feet with costly ointment.
For she, in pouring this ointment on my body, hath done it to prepare me for burial.
Then said Jesus, Let her alone, that she may keep it until the day of my burial.
And when the sabbath was past, Mary the Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, that they might come and anoint him.
Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared.
Nicodemus also, he who at the first went to him by night, came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds weight. Then they took the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the manner of the Jews in preparing for burial.
But the disciples seeing it, were much displeased, saying, To what purpose is this waste?. For this might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.
And there were some that were much displeased, [and said] among themselves, Why is this waste of the ointment made? For this ointment might have been sold for more than three hundred denaries, and given to the poor. And they chid her harshly.
Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred denaries, and given to the poor?
and went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine, and setting him on his own beast, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
