The world cannot hate you. Me it hateth: Because I testify of it, that the works of it are evil.

They also that sought after my life laid snares for me; and they that went about to do me evil talked of wickedness, and imagined deceit all the day long.

and set two unthrifties before him, and let them testify against him, saying, 'Thou didst curse both God and the king.' And upon that carry him out and stone him to death."

Then the folk of the land hindered the people of Judah, and made them afraid to build,

Well, be ready hereafter, when ye hear the noise of the trumpets blow with the harps, shawmes psalteries, symphonies and all the other melodies: that ye fall down, and worship the Image which I have made. But if ye worship it not, ye shall be cast immediately in to a hot burning oven. Let's see what God is there, that may deliver you out of my hands!"

Such words spake his father, and mother, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had conspired already that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be excommunicated out of the Synagogue.

But that it be noised no farther among the people, let us threaten and charge them that they speak henceforth to no man in this name."

Then said Paul unto them, "They have beaten us, openly un-condemned, for all that we are Romans, and have cast us into prison: and now would they send us away privily? Nay not so, but let them come themselves and fetch us out."

Thrice was I beaten with rods. I was once stoned. I suffered thrice shipwreck. Night and day have I been in the deep of the sea.

From henceforth, let no man put me to business. For I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.

Others tasted of mockings, and scourgings, moreover of bonds and prisonment: were stoned, were hewn asunder, were tempted, were slain with swords, walked up and down in sheep skins, in goat skins, in need, tribulation, and vexation, which the world was not worthy of: They wandered in wilderness, in mountains, in dens and caves of the earth.read more.

He handleth according to his will, among the powers of heaven and among the inhabiters of the earth - and there is none that may resist his hand, or say, 'What doest thou?'

In that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the congregation.

But they heard only, that he which persecuted us in time past, now preacheth the faith, which before he destroyed.
