Peter therefore was kept guarded in prison; but earnest prayer was made by the church to God in his behalf.
And he came a little nearer, and fell on his face, praying and saying, Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me! nevertheless, not as I will, but as Thou wilt.
And going on a little farther, he fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it was possible, the hour might pass from him. And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible to thee! take away this cup from me. But not what I will, but what thou wilt.
saying, Father, if thou art willing to remove this cup from meyet not my will, but thine be done! And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony, he prayed more earnestly. And his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling to the ground.
And when they had come in, they went up into the upper room where they were making their abode, namely, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon the zealot, and Judas the brother of James. These all continued with one accord in prayer, with women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.
And they were constantly attending on the teaching of the apostles, and the imparting [of their substance], the breaking of bread, and the prayers.
And on the sabbathday we went forth out of the gate to a riverside, where was wont to be a place of prayer, and we sat down, and spoke to the women who had assembled.

For in truth against thy holy servant Jesus, whom thou didst anoint, did both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the gentiles, and the peoples of Israel, assemble in this city, to do whatever thy hand and thy will before determined to be done. And now, Lord, look upon their threatenings, and grant to thy servants that with all boldness they may speak thy word, while thou stretchest forth thy hand to heal, and signs and wonders are wrought through the name of thy holy servant Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
Then, after they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
But at midnight Paul and Silas praying, were singing praises to God; and the prisoners were listening to them.
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
And lo! two blind men, who were sitting by the wayside, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, Have pity on us, Son of David! And the multitude sharply bade them be silent. But they cried out the more, saying, Lord, have pity on us, Son of David!
