For if a man thinketh himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
and lest thou say in thy heart, My power and the might of my hand hath gotten me this wealth. But thou shalt remember Jehovah thy God, for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth; that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as at this day.
We have heard of the pride of Moab, that he is very proud; even of his arrogancy, and his pride, and his wrath; his boastings are nought.
For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness; thou hast said, None seeth me; thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee, and thou hast said in thy heart, I am, and there is none else besides me.

then spake Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest falsely: Jehovah our God hath not sent thee to say, Ye shall not go into Egypt to sojourn there;
then thy heart be lifted up, and thou forget Jehovah thy God, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;
But they and our fathers dealt proudly and hardened their neck, and hearkened not to thy commandments,
For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, That his iniquity will not be found out and be hated.
For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, And the covetous renounceth, yea , contemneth Jehovah.
Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? The lovingkindness of God endureth continually.
But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened so that he dealt proudly, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:

For I was envious at the arrogant, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
His ways are firm at all times; Thy judgments are far above out of his sight: As for all his adversaries, he puffeth at them.

Oh love Jehovah, all ye his saints: Jehovah preserveth the faithful, And plentifully rewardeth him that dealeth proudly.
Whoso privily slandereth his neighbor, him will I destroy: Him that hath a high look and a proud heart will I not suffer.
Jehovah will root up the house of the proud; But he will establish the border of the widow.
A man's pride shall bring him low; But he that is of a lowly spirit shall obtain honor.
