for this is a commandment of God, "honour thy father and mother; and, he that curses father or mother, let him be punish'd with death."
Moses said, "honour thy father and thy mother;" and, if any one speak contemptibly of his father, or his mother, let him be put to death.
you know the commandments, "do not commit adultery, do not kill, do not steal, do not bear false witness, defraud not, honour your father, and mother."
the first commandment with a promise annexed, is, "honour thy father and mother,
receive him then in the Lord with all alacrity, and let such be the objects of your esteem:
We entreat you, brethren, to respect those, who labour in the ministry, who by divine appointment preside over you, and instruct you.
You husbands, do you on your part behave with prudence towards your wives: who being of a more delicate make, ought to be treated with the greater tenderness: and consider they are equally intitled to the evangelical gifts, that your prayers may not be frustrated.

let them not treat their christian masters, on pretence of being their brethren, with less respect: but be the more obsequious, because they are believers, and deserve to be belov'd, for the kind provision they make for them. let this be the subject of your instructions, and exhortation.
at last, having one only son, whom he loved, he sent him to them; surely, said he, they will reverence my son.
upon which the master of the vineyard said, what shall I do? I will send my beloved son: perhaps his presence will engage their respect.
when our natural parents corrected us, we gave them reverence: is it not much more reasonable to be in subjection to the father of spirits, in order to have life?
