Blessed are the pacific: for they shall be the children of God.

For it was agreeable to his wisdom, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to consecrate the author of their salvation by his sufferings. for both he that sanctifieth, and they who are sanctified, are all deriv'd from one: for which cause he is not asham'd to call them brethren, saying,

for whom the Lord loveth, he chastises, and scourgeth every son whom he receives." if you are to endure chastisement, God treats you as his children: for where's the son whom his father does not chastise?

when our natural parents corrected us, we gave them reverence: is it not much more reasonable to be in subjection to the father of spirits, in order to have life?

Consider what proof the father has given us of his love, in allowing us to be called the sons of God: therefore the world does not know us, because it knew him not. beloved, we are now the sons of God, tho' it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know, that when this change shall be, his immediate presence will give us a divine resemblance.

In this the children of God are distinguished from the children of the devil: he that does not practise virtue, and fraternal benevolence, is not of God.

ye are of God, my dear children, and you have overcome them: because he that is in you, is superior to him that is in the world.

he that overcomes, shall inherit these things: I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
