"Ask for a sign for yourself from Yahweh God; make [it] deep [as] Sheol or make [it] high as above."
And he said to him, "Please, if I have found favor in your eyes, {show me a sign} that you [are] speaking with me.
And Hezekiah said, "What [is the] sign that I shall go up [to] the temple of Yahweh?"
And [when] the Pharisees and Sadducees came to test [him], they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. So he answered [and] said to them, "[When] evening comes you say, '[It will be] fair weather because the sky is red,' and early in the morning, 'Today [it will be] stormy weather, because the sky is red [and] darkening.' You know how to evaluate correctly the appearance of the sky, but you are not able [to evaluate] the signs of the times.read more.
An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, and a sign will not be given to it except the sign of Jonah!" And he left them [and] went away.
And the Pharisees came and began to argue with him, demanding from him a sign from heaven [in order to] test him. And sighing deeply in his spirit, he said, "Why does this generation demand a sign? Truly I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation!"
Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him saying, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from you!" But he answered [and] said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation desires a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah!
And [as] the crowds were increasing, he began to say, "This generation is an evil generation! It demands a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah!
And he also said to the crowds, "When you see a cloud coming up in the west, you say at once, 'A rainstorm is coming,' and so it happens. And when [you see] the south wind blowing, you say, 'There will be burning heat,' and it happens. Hypocrites! You know how to evaluate the appearance of the earth and the sky, but how [is it] you do not know how to evaluate this present time?
And [when] Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, for he had been wanting to see him for a long time, because he had heard about him and was hoping to see some miracle performed by him.
So the Jews answered and said to him, "What sign do you show to us, because you are doing these [things]?"
So Jesus said to him, "Unless you [people] see signs and wonders, you will never believe!"
So they said to him, "Then what sign will you perform, so that we can see [it] and believe you? What will you do?
