Then they sent to him some of the Pharisees and the Herodians, to catch him in his words.

but Jesus said to him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?"

But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.

The commander took him by the hand, and going aside asked him privately, "What is it that you have to tell me?" Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how to entangle him in his talk.

But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, "Why are you testing me, you hypocrites?

Should we pay them, or should we not?" But knowing their hypocrisy, he said to them, "Why do you put me to the test? Bring me a denarius, and let me look at it."

And as they were eating, he said, "Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me."

Then the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.

And they were not able in the presence of the people to catch him by what he said. But marveling at his answer they were silent.

They said this to test him, that they might have something of which to accuse him. But Jesus bent down and wrote on the ground with his finger.

So Judas, having received a detachment of soldiers and some officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons. Then Jesus, knowing all that was to come upon him, went forward and said to them, "Whom do you seek?"
