And I saw, and heard an eagle flying in midheaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to those who dwell on the earth, by reason of the remaining voices of the trumpet of the three angels who are yet to sound!

Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea! for the Devil is come down to you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, the great city! Babylon, the mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.

Woe to you, blind guides, that say, Whoever sweareth by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever sweareth by the gold of the temple, is bound. Fools and blind I for which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold? Blind guides! who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and the platter, but within they are full of robbery and licentiousness. Blind Pharisee! cleanse first the inside of the cup, that its outside side also may become clean. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like whited sepulchres, which outwardly indeed appear beautiful, but within are full of dead mens bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous to men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and adorn the tombs of the righteous, and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. So that ye bear witness against yourselves, that ye are the sons of those who killed the prophets. Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers! Serpents, brood of vipers! how can ye escape the punishment of hell?

But woe to you Pharisees! for ye pay tithes of the mint, and the rue, and every herb; and pass by justice and the love of God. These ought ye to have done, and not to leave those undone. Woe to you Pharisees! for ye love the chief seats in the synagogues, and salutations in the markets. Woe to you, for ye are as tombs which are unseen, and men walking over them know it not.read more.
And one of the lawyers answering saith to him, Teacher, in saying these things, thou revilest us also. And he said, To you lawyers also, woe! for ye load men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers. Woe to you! for ye build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. So then ye bear witness to and approve the deeds of your fathers; for they indeed killed them, and ye are building [their tombs]. Therefore the wisdom of God also said, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute; that the blood of all the prophets, which hath been shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was slain between the altar and the temple. Yea, I tell you, it will be required of this generation.

Woe to the world because of stumblingblocks! For it must needs be that stumblingblocks come; but woe to the man through whom the stumblingblock cometh!

And he said to his disciples, It is impossible but that stumblingblocks will come; but woe to him through whom they come! It were better for him to have a millstone hung round his neck, and be cast into the sea, than to cause one of these little ones to fall away. Take heed to yourselves. If thy brother sin, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

Woe to thee, Chorazin! woe to thee, Bethsaida! for if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment, than for you.

Then he began to upbraid the cities wherein most of his miracles were done, because they did not repent. Woe to thee, Chorazin! woe to thee, Bethsaida! for if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I say to you, It will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.
