'Bread' in the Bible

For behold, the Lord God of hosts is going to remove from Jerusalem and JudahBoth supply and support, the whole supply of breadAnd the whole supply of water;

He will protest on that day, saying,“I will not be your healer,For in my house there is neither bread nor cloak;You should not appoint me ruler of the people.”

For seven women will take hold of one man in that day, saying, “We will eat our own bread and wear our own clothes, only let us be called by your name; take away our reproach!”

Bring water for the thirsty,O inhabitants of the land of Tema,Meet the fugitive with bread.

Grain for bread is crushed,Indeed, he does not continue to thresh it forever.Because the wheel of his cart and his horses eventually damage it,He does not thresh it longer.

Although the Lord has given you bread of privation and water of oppression, He, your Teacher will no longer hide Himself, but your eyes will behold your Teacher.

Then He will give you rain for the seed which you will sow in the ground, and bread from the yield of the ground, and it will be rich and plenteous; on that day your livestock will graze in a roomy pasture.

He will dwell on the heights,His refuge will be the impregnable rock;His bread will be given him,His water will be sure.

until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.

Then it becomes something for a man to burn, so he takes one of them and warms himself; he also makes a fire to bake bread. He also makes a god and worships it; he makes it a graven image and falls down before it.

No one recalls, nor is there knowledge or understanding to say, “I have burned half of it in the fire and also have baked bread over its coals. I roast meat and eat it. Then I make the rest of it into an abomination, I fall down before a block of wood!”

The exile will soon be set free, and will not die in the dungeon, nor will his bread be lacking.

“Why do you spend money for what is not bread,And your wages for what does not satisfy?Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,And delight yourself in abundance.

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,And do not return there without watering the earthAnd making it bear and sprout,And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater;

“Is it not to divide your bread with the hungryAnd bring the homeless poor into the house;When you see the naked, to cover him;And not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
