“Learn this parable from the fig tree: As soon as its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near.

In the same way, when you see these things happening, know that He is near—at the door!

Therefore be alert, since you don’t know when the master of the house is coming—whether in the evening or at midnight or at the crowing of the rooster or early in the morning.

And He came again and found them sleeping, because they could not keep their eyes open. They did not know what to say to Him.

But he denied it: “I don’t know or understand what you’re talking about!” Then he went out to the entryway, and a rooster crowed.

Then he started to curse and to swear with an oath, “I don’t know this man you’re talking about!”
