'Mount' in the Bible

Abraham called the name of that place The Lord Will Provide, as it is said to this day, “In the mount of the Lord it will be provided.”

These are the commandments which the Lord commanded Moses for the sons of Israel at Mount Sinai.

Now these are the records of the generations of Aaron and Moses at the time when the Lord spoke with Moses on Mount Sinai.

“Speak to Aaron and say to him, ‘When you mount the lamps, the seven lamps will give light in the front of the lampstand.’”

Thus they set out from the mount of the Lord three days’ journey, with the ark of the covenant of the Lord journeying in front of them for the three days, to seek out a resting place for them.

Now when they set out from Kadesh, the sons of Israel, the whole congregation, came to Mount Hor.

Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron at Mount Hor by the border of the land of Edom, saying,

Take Aaron and his son Eleazar and bring them up to Mount Hor;

So Moses did just as the Lord had commanded, and they went up to Mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.

Then they set out from Mount Hor by the way of the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom; and the people became impatient because of the journey.

It is a continual burnt offering which was ordained in Mount Sinai as a soothing aroma, an offering by fire to the Lord.

They journeyed from Kehelathah and camped at Mount Shepher.

They journeyed from Mount Shepher and camped at Haradah.

They journeyed from Kadesh and camped at Mount Hor, at the edge of the land of Edom.

Then Aaron the priest went up to Mount Hor at the command of the Lord, and died there in the fortieth year after the sons of Israel had come from the land of Egypt, on the first day in the fifth month.

Aaron was one hundred twenty-three years old when he died on Mount Hor.

Then they journeyed from Mount Hor and camped at Zalmonah.

‘And this shall be your north border: you shall draw your border line from the Great Sea to Mount Hor.

You shall draw a line from Mount Hor to the Lebo-hamath, and the termination of the border shall be at Zedad;

It is eleven days’ journey from Horeb by the way of Mount Seir to Kadesh-barnea.

“Then we turned and set out for the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea, as the Lord spoke to me, and circled Mount Seir for many days.

do not provoke them, for I will not give you any of their land, even as little as a footstep because I have given Mount Seir to Esau as a possession.

“Thus we took the land at that time from the hand of the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, from the valley of Arnon to Mount Hermon

from Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of Arnon, even as far as Mount Sion (that is, Hermon),

“It shall come about, when the Lord your God brings you into the land where you are entering to possess it, that you shall place the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.

So it shall be when you cross the Jordan, you shall set up on Mount Ebal, these stones, as I am commanding you today, and you shall coat them with lime.

“When you cross the Jordan, these shall stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.

For the curse, these shall stand on Mount Ebal: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

“Go up to this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab opposite Jericho, and look at the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the sons of Israel for a possession.

Then die on the mountain where you ascend, and be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people,

He said,“The Lord came from Sinai,And dawned on them from Seir;He shone forth from Mount Paran,And He came from the midst of ten thousand holy ones;At His right hand there was flashing lightning for them.

Now Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho. And the Lord showed him all the land, Gilead as far as Dan,

Then Joshua built an altar to the Lord, the God of Israel, in Mount Ebal,

All Israel with their elders and officers and their judges were standing on both sides of the ark before the Levitical priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, the stranger as well as the native. Half of them stood in front of Mount Gerizim and half of them in front of Mount Ebal, just as Moses the servant of the Lord had given command at first to bless the people of Israel.

from Mount Halak, that rises toward Seir, even as far as Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon at the foot of Mount Hermon. And he captured all their kings and struck them down and put them to death.

and Gilead, and the territory of the Geshurites and Maacathites, and all Mount Hermon, and all Bashan as far as Salecah;

From the top of the mountain the border curved to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah and proceeded to the cities of Mount Ephron, then the border curved to Baalah (that is, Kiriath-jearim).

The border turned about from Baalah westward to Mount Seir, and continued to the slope of Mount Jearim on the north (that is, Chesalon), and went down to Beth-shemesh and continued through Timnah.

When they began singing and praising, the Lord set ambushes against the sons of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; so they were routed.

For the sons of Ammon and Moab rose up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir destroying them completely; and when they had finished with the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.

Then I passed on to the Fountain Gate and the King’s Pool, but there was no place for my mount to pass.

“Then You came down on Mount Sinai,And spoke with them from heaven;You gave them just ordinances and true laws,Good statutes and commandments.

O my God, my soul is in despair within me;Therefore I remember You from the land of the JordanAnd the peaks of Hermon, from Mount Mizar.

Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth,Is Mount Zion in the far north,The city of the great King.

Let Mount Zion be glad,Let the daughters of Judah rejoiceBecause of Your judgments.

Remember Your congregation, which You have purchased of old,Which You have redeemed to be the tribe of Your inheritance;And this Mount Zion, where You have dwelt.
