'Whether' in the Bible
correcting those who are opposed with gentleness, [seeing] whether perhaps God may grant them repentance to a knowledge of the truth,
Proclaim the message; persist in it whether convenient or not; rebuke, correct, and encourage with great patience and teaching.
If you address as Father, the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in [reverent] fear [of Him] and with profound respect for Him throughout the time of your stay on earth.
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
whether to governors, as to those sent through him, for punishment, indeed, of evil-doers, and a praise of those doing good;
For,“The one who wants to enjoy life and see good days [good—whether apparent or not],Must keep his tongue free from evil and his lips from speaking guile (treachery, deceit).
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the military commanders and the wealthy and the strong and everyone, [whether] slave or free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains;
that you may feast on the flesh of kings and the flesh of generals and the flesh of mighty men, on the flesh of horses and their riders, and on the flesh of all mankind, whether they are free men or slaves, great men or small."
