'Robes' in the Bible
Now there [was] a long-sleeved robe on her, for so they clothed the daughters of the king who [were] virgins, in robes. His servant put her outside, and he bolted the door behind her.
The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah [were] each sitting on his throne, dressed [in their] robes, at the threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria, [with] all the prophets prophesying before them.
Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "[I will] disguise myself and go into the battle, but you wear your robes." So the king of Israel disguised himself, and he went into the battle.
So Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Acbor, Shaphan, and Asaiah went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah the son of Harhas, the keeper of the robes. Now she [was] living in Jerusalem in the second district. Then they spoke to her,
Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were each sitting on his throne, clothed in robes. And they were sitting at the threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets were prophesying before them.
All your robes [are scented with] myrrh and aloes [and] cassia. From palaces of ivory stringed instruments gladden you.
[It is] like the fragrant oil upon the head, running down upon the beard, the beard of Aaron, that runs down upon the edges of his robes.
the festal robes and the mantles, and the cloaks and the handbags,
And all the princes of the sea will go down from their thrones, and they will remove their robes, and their {beautiful garments} [of] finished cloth they will take off. With terror they will be clothed, and on the ground they will sit, and they will tremble {continually}, and they will be appalled over you.
Then the high priest tore his robes, saying, "He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? Behold, you have just now heard the blasphemy!
And in his teaching he said, "Beware of the scribes, who like walking around in long robes and greetings in the marketplaces
"Beware of the scribes, who like walking around in long robes and who love greetings in the marketplaces and the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets,
After these [things] I looked, and behold, a great crowd that no one was able to number, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed [in] white robes and [with] palm branches in their hands.
And one of the elders answered, saying to me, "These who are dressed [in] the white robes--who are [they], and from where have they come?"
And I said to him, "My lord, you know." And he said to me, "These are the ones who have come out of the great tribulation, and have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Blessed [are] the ones who wash their robes, so that their authority will be over the tree of life and they may enter into the city through the gates.
