Joab said, "I will not waste time like this with you." And he took three javelins in his hand and thrust them into the heart of Absalom while he was still alive in the oak.

The king covered his face, and the king cried with a loud voice, "O my son Absalom, O Absalom, my son, my son!"

Geshur

But Geshur and Aram took from them Havvoth-jair, Kenath, and its villages, sixty towns. All these were descendants of Machir, the father of Gilead.

Yet the people of Israel did not drive out the Geshurites or the Maacathites, but Geshur and Maacath dwell in the midst of Israel to this day.

So Joab arose and went to Geshur and brought Absalom to Jerusalem.

For your servant vowed a vow while I lived at Geshur in Aram, saying, 'If the LORD will indeed bring me back to Jerusalem, then I will offer worship to the LORD.'"

Adonijah

and the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital;

Now Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, "I will be king."And he prepared for himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.

Now therefore as the LORD lives, who has established me and placed me on the throne of David my father, and who has made me a house, as he promised, Adonijah shall be put to death today."
