For I have been informed by Chloe's people, that there are quarrels among you, my brethren.

When any one of you has a grievance against a brother, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of before the saints?

For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you; and I partly believe it.

For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you what I wish you to be, and you may not find me what you wish me to be; I fear that there may be quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder.

But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another.

For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every evil practice.

What causes quarrels and fights among you? Is it not your passions that are at war in your members?

And walk

For from within, out of the heart of men, come evil thoughts, fornications, theft, murder, adultery,

in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience.

You were taught, with regard to your former manner of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful lusts;

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by men and hating one another.

so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human lusts, but for the will of God.
