Or is it Barnabas and I alone who have no right to refrain from working for a living?

and as they all had the same trade, they proceeded to work together.

You know yourselves that these hands of mine provided for my own needs and for my companions.

You remember, brothers, our hard labor and toil. We kept up our habit of working night and day, in order not to be a burden to any of you when we preached to you.

I did not eat any man's bread without paying for it, but with toil and hard labor I worked night and day, in order not to be a burden to any of you.

Being reviled

But I tell you, practice loving your enemies and praying for your persecutors,

continue to bless those who curse you, and continue to pray for those who abuse you.

They drew lots to divide His clothes among them.

Keep on blessing your persecutors; keep on blessing and stop cursing them.

never returning evil for evil or abuse for abuse, but blessing instead, because it was for this that you were called, to obtain the blessing of heirs.

But the archangel Michael himself, when he disputed and argued with the devil about Moses' body, did not dare to bring against him a charge of blasphemy, but merely said, "May the Lord rebuke you!"

Being persecuted

"Blessed are you when people abuse you, and persecute you, and keep on falsely telling all sorts of evil against you for my sake.

Instead, you are happy, even if you should suffer for doing right. Never be afraid of their threats, and never be disturbed,

Dearly beloved, do not be astonished that a test by fire is coming upon you, as though something strange were happening to you,
