Brothers, I do not write a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the Word which you have heard from the beginning.

And we write these things to you so that your joy may be full.

But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Even as David also says of the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness without works,

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace,

in whom we have redemption through His blood, the remission of sins.
