Our love attains perfection through our having perfect confidence about the day of judgment, because here in this world we are living as He did.

but whoever practices obedience to His message really has a perfect love of God in his heart. By this we can be sure that we are in union with Him:

And now, dear children, I repeat, you must continue to live in union with Him, so that if He is unveiled, we may have unshaken confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame when He comes.

No one has ever seen God; yet if we practice loving one another, God remains in union with us, and our love for Him attains perfection in our hearts,

I tell you, the punishment on the day of judgment will be lighter for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town.

The pupil should be satisfied to become like his teacher, and the slave should be satisfied to become like his master. If men have called the Head of the house Beelzebub, how much worse names will they heap upon the members of His family!

Moreover, I tell you, on the day of judgment the punishment will be lighter for Tyre and Sidon than for you!

But I tell you, on the day of judgment the punishment will be lighter for the land of Sodom than for you!"

So I tell you, for every worthless word that men utter they will have to give account on the day of judgment;

Remember what I once told you: No slave is greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will persecute you too. If they have observed my teaching, they will observe yours too.

For those on whom He set His heart beforehand He marked off as His own to be made like His Son, that He might be the eldest of many brothers;

keeping our eyes on Jesus, the perfect leader and example of faith, who, instead of the joy which lay before Him, endured the cross with no regard for its shame, and since has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of God.

For merciless judgment will be the portion of the merciless man; yet mercy will triumph over judgment.

You see that faith cooperated with his good deeds, and by his good deeds faith was made complete;

and keep your conscience clear, so that those who bitterly abuse your excellent conduct as Christians may be ashamed of slandering you.

So then, since Christ has suffered in our physical form, you too must arm yourselves with the same determination. For whoever suffers in his physical form has done with sin,

but so far as you are sharing Christ's sufferings, keep on rejoicing, so that at the uncovering of His glory you may rejoice triumphantly.

surely, then, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from trial and to keep wrongdoers under punishment for the day of judgment,

But by the same command the present heavens and earth are stored up for fire and are kept for the day when godless men are to be doomed and destroyed.

See what wonderful love the Father has bestowed on us in letting us be called God's children, and that is what we are! This is why the world does not know what we are, because it has never come to know Him.

And everyone who has this hope in him tries to make himself as pure as He is.

In this way we shall know by experience that we are on the side of the truth, and satisfy our consciences in God's sight,
