Rehoboam Responds Unwisely With Disastrous Results

¹² And Jeroboam and all the people will come to Rehoboam in the third day, as the king spake, saying, Turn back to me in the third day. ¹³ And the king will answer the people hard, and he will forsake the counsel of the old men which they counseled him; ¹⁴ And he will speak to them according to the counsel of the children, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add upon your yoke: my father chastised you with whips and I will chastise you with scorpions.
