Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab: By the living Jehovah, the God of Israel, whose servant I am, there will be no dew or rain in these years, but only at my word.

I promise by the living Jehovah, who gives Israel victory, that the guilty one will be put to death, even if he is my son Jonathan. But no one said anything.

Those killed by the sword are better off than those who died of starvation. For these die slowly and waste away from lack of food from the field.

Son of man, eat your bread with trembling and drink your water with quivering and anxiety.

Alas for the day! For the day of Jehovah is near! Destruction will come from the Almighty!
