The king of Syria was at war with Israel. He consulted his officers and chose a place to set up camp.

Elisha answered: Hear the word of Jehovah: 'By this time tomorrow you will be able to buy in Samaria ten pounds of the best wheat or twenty pounds of barley for one piece of silver.'

But Jehovah was kind to them and had pity on them, caring for them, because of his agreement with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He would not put them to destruction or send them away from his presence until now.

In the days of Ahaz son of Jotham son of Uzziah, king of Judah, King Rezin of Aram and King Pekah son of Remaliah of Israel went up to attack Jerusalem, but could not mount an attack against it.

I acted so that my name would not be dishonored among the nations who had watched me bring the Israelites out of Egypt.

A man of God came to the king of Israel. He said: Jehovah says, 'Because the Aramaeans have said, Jehovah is a god of the hills and not of the valleys; I will give all this great army into your hands, and you will see that I am Jehovah.'

Give me an answer, O Jehovah. Give me an answer so that this people may see that you are God. That you have made their hearts come back again.

Then the Egyptians will know that I am Jehovah, when I am honored through Pharaoh, through his chariots and his horsemen.

I have heard my people complain. I said to them: 'Each evening you will have meat and each morning they will have more than enough bread.' Then you will know that I am Jehovah their God.'

That they may know that you alone, whose name is Jehovah, are the Most High over all the earth.

Now, O Jehovah our God, deliver us from his hand. That way all kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O Jehovah, are God.

Your people will be killed and they will fall among you. Then you will know that I am Jehovah.

You will know that I am Jehovah your God, dwelling in Zion my holy mountain. Then Jerusalem will be holy and no strangers will pass through (invade) her any more.
