Go and tell my servant David, Thus says LORD, Shall thou build a house for me to dwell in?

and cedar trees without number. For the Sidonians and those of Tyre brought cedar trees in abundance to David.

But I have chosen Jerusalem that my name might be there. And have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

The wars

But the word of LORD came to me, saying, Thou have shed blood abundantly, and have made great wars. Thou shall not build a house to my name because thou have shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.

But God said to me, Thou shall not build a house for my name, because thou are a man of war, and have shed blood.

And it came to pass, when they brought forth those kings to Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said to the chiefs of the men of war who went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. A

Thou make him to have dominion over the works of thy hands. Thou have put all things under his feet.

LORD says to my lord, Sit thou at my right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

And ye shall tread down the wicked, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I make, says LORD of hosts.

For he must reign until he will put all his enemies under his feet.

And he subordinated all things under his feet, and appointed him head over all things for the church,
