I go astray, like a sheep that is lost; O seek thy servant, for I do not forget thy commandments.
And we went astray as sheep, and turned every man his way: and the LORD put on him the wickedness of us all.
Wherefore, this is the commandment of the LORD God of Israel, unto the shepherds that feed my people, "Ye scatter and thrust out my flock, and look not upon them. Therefore now will I visit the wickedness of your imaginations, sayeth the LORD:
My sheep go wandering upon all mountains, and upon every high hill. Yea they be scattered abroad in all fields, and there is no man, that careth for them, or seeketh after them.
But when he saw the people, he had compassion on them, because they were pined away, and scattered abroad, even as sheep having no shepherd.
How think ye? If a man have a hundred sheep, and one of them should be gone astray, doth he not leave ninety and nine in the mountains, and go and seek that one which is gone astray?
"What man of you having a hundred sheep, if he lose one of them doth not leave ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find him?
